Flowstep started in Tallinn in 2025. Three people with different backgrounds, product tooling, token infrastructure, and design systems, all landed on the same problem. Tokens existed. Briefs existed. The connection between them still required manual work every single time.

Matt Clannachan

Matt spent years building interface tooling for product teams, particularly on the design-to-dev handoff problem. The token-alignment gap he kept hitting is what Flowstep is built to close. He leads product direction and works directly with early-access users.
Priya Kumaraswamy
CTO & Co-Founder
Priya's background is in building production component libraries for cross-platform product teams and the token-layer infrastructure that keeps them consistent. She architects Flowstep's resolution engine and owns integrations and export fidelity.
Tom Jokinen
Head of Design
Tom designs token-first systems and has shipped Figma plugin experiences that design teams actually use every sprint. He owns product design at Flowstep and runs the early-access cohort design system audits.
Why we built this
The problem is specific: a designer has a brief, a design system, and a blank Figma canvas. The brief has to become screens that reference real tokens. In most teams, a designer manually wires components to tokens for every new brief. That is not a creativity problem. It is a mechanical one.
We ran 47 design system token audits with early-access participants. The patterns were consistent. Teams had solid token architecture on paper, but the mapping from brief language to component variants was manual every time. Automation existed for code. It did not exist for the design file.

A few things Flowstep is not: it is not a brand design tool, it is not a design system governance platform, and it will not replace your judgment about what a screen should do. Write a vague brief and the token mapping will be approximate. Write a clear one and you get a file you can actually open and work from. We are a team of three in Tallinn, bootstrapped and in early access. Every session teaches us where the edges are.
